Message from the Global Managing Directors
As we approach the end of the year, we wanted to take this opportunity to extend a message of thanks to our staff, parents and stakeholders for your significant contributions to OneSchool. 2024 was a significant year for us, marking 30 years since we first opened our doors in 1994. It's inspiring how far we've come in such a short time. From our Campus Modernisation Project, to the Learning to Learn 60 second pitch, and our Personal Appraisal program, we have been guided by our strategic vision.
A big congratulations to our 870 life-ready students who have recently graduated. Our students leave OSG equipped with the skills, knowledge and training to shape their own futures and positively influence the lives of those they encounter. It's a reminder of the impact that we make, and our reason for coming to work every day.
For those in the Southern hemisphere, enjoy the summer break. We look forward to seeing our educators and students refreshed and back on board for the 2025 teaching year in late January. For our Northern hemisphere staff, whilst it's a shorter break, please take the time to relax and connect with family and friends, to tackle the rest of the 2024-2025 teaching year.
Along with the Global Management team and Regional MDs, we'd like to wish you a safe and happy holiday. We look forward to seeing you refreshed and renewed to tackle 2025.
Throughout 2024, OSG has been developing a platform called OnePortal, a simplified way for parents to access student information through a mobile app and/or computer.
OnePortal is a single location that consolidates information from other platforms including Canvas and regional student information systems called BromCom, PowerSchool or Engage.
While it doesn’t replace those systems, OnePortal allows parents to view their child(ren)’s timetables, teachers, Canvas submissions and feedback, newsletters, and more. It’s all in the one place – parents can sign into OnePortal and it’s the only password they need to remember!
Foundations in 2024
So far in 2024, a basic version of OnePortal has been made available to parents in Australia, New Zealand and Argentina, and the United Kingdom. Parents across North America will receive an email invitation for OnePortal next week, and EU parents will receive access in January 2025.
Enhancements coming in 2025
2025 will be a big year for OnePortal. New features under consideration will include:
- MAP Family Reports
- Student results and/or student reports
- House Points
- Attendance Information
- a new “Newsroom” feature that will allow parents to view news from their campus, region and across OSG globally, from the single location!
In the meantime, for more information, visit https://www.oneschoolglobal.com/oneportal/ for more details about the 2024 launches in NA, EU and UK.
OneSchool Global Reporting Tool
We’re excited to launch the OSG Global Reporting Function, a new tool to enhance safety across OneSchool Global. Report issues like child protection, online safety, bullying, and more easily and anonymously. Help us keep our school community safe!
Face to Face New Staff Induction
New staff induction in North America was a success! Hear some feedback from a few of our newest members of our team. Thank you to those who took the time to travel and participate in these training and team building opportunities.
Q1 Recognition of Excellence Ceremony
Our SLT recently jumped at the opportunity to helped produce and run North America’s Q1 Recognition of Excellence. Not only were key components developed by our SLT, but two courageous volunteers hosted the live event as well. The ceremony celebrated student achievement and recognized staff too. Additionally, an acrostic competition featuring Learning to Learn provided a great opportunity for students to stretch their creativity and express their L2L enthusiasm and knowledge.
Lots of Exciting Happenings across North America!
Industry Day
For over 10 years, Industry Week has been a fantastic way for students to meet professionals and get a real sense of the working world. This year, our Year 10 students from France visited Harmony Group in Ales, where they were warmly welcomed before visiting the company’s two production units. In the afternoon, the students participated in an "industry" quiz and worked on a project to design layouts for professional workspaces. Along the way, they learned key terms like "production chain," "CSR," and "information systems," which will be super useful in their studies. A big thank you to our students for their enthusiasm and to Harmony Group for hosting us!
Update from the Regional Director of Education | Paul Maher
Hello and welcome to the final Australia update for the 2024 Global Gazette.
What a remarkable year it has been! It been my privilege to work closely with all 31 campuses in Australia this year, an experience that has truly strengthened the alignment in our region.
A few academic highlights to wrap up the year:
Round 3 of MAP has recently concluded, and it was great to see Australia marginally surpass the global average of students meeting or exceeding growth. Its still a long way from the ‘Strive for 65’ target that was set for 2024, so we will keep working hard on that front in 2025.
Locally, the annual NAPLAN program produced some excellent results across the region, comparatively to Australian averages. You can see the gap that OSG starts to put between the rest of Australia as the students move from Year 3 to Year 9.
Some outstanding results have also been recognized in local media publications. Our Adelaide campus featured in the top 20 schools in South Australia, OSG Tasmania were the top performing school in the state for the second year running, and Victoria ranked 86th in their state. The average for all assessments across all year levels for OSG was 519, compared to the rest of Australia with an average of 500. Well done to all students for working hard to achieve these NAPLAN results!
Our final score measure, the ATAR, has been on an upward trajectory since 2020, and we wait with bated breath for the release of the 2024 results in the coming weeks to see if this trend continues. We wish our graduating students all the best, as they embark on the next chapter of their lives, and we thank them for their contribution to OneSchool Global.
This year, there have been multiple significant events focused on our staff and students. We welcomed our new Year 3 students for 2025 with a special visit to their respective campuses. It was a fun-packed and well-prepared agenda which ensured students had an enjoyable and meaningful welcome, and we trust they had a fantastic day as they take this exciting step into their educational journey with OneSchool Global.
The Year 6 Transition Day was another great opportunity for our Year 6 primary students to get a glimpse of the secondary years. They also had the opportunity to meet some of their teachers for 2025.
The Student Leadership Team workshops have been an outstanding success, and we look forward to the ‘Learning to Lead’ program, continuing into 2025 to develop our Student Leadership Team.
The new staff induction welcomed 20 new staff members to OSG, and we wish them all the best as they embark on their career with OneSchool.
In closing, I’d like to wish all our students, staff, parents and volunteers a wonderful summer break, and thank you for all your contributions throughout 2024.
Albury Campus NRMA Future of Transport Finals
We are so proud of our Year 6 students who made it to the finals of the NRMA Future of Transport Challenge. This is the first year OneSchool Global NSW - Albury has competed, and our students have set the bar very high! Along with two other schools in their age bracket, OSG presented their idea in person to the NRMA Executive Board at Sydney Olympic Park.
Congratulations to our students on their innovative Safe Car VR concept and exceptional presentation. Thank you and congratulations to our Primary Lead Teacher, Lucy Turner, for spearheading the project at our campus and to all the parent mentors.
New Sporting Facilities at Illawarra Campus
This term students have been able to utilise the recently upgraded sporting facilities. New drainage, as well as cricket nets and soccer goals have been installed.
2030 Strategy Workshops
Following on from Global and Regional 2030 Strategy Workshops, the Australian region held the same workshops with our CP’s, CA’s and CB’s.
We discussed the vision for 2030, the importance of Life Ready Graduates, what makes a High Performing Team, key challenges to OSG over the next 5 years, and what operational excellence looks like at OneSchool.

Exciting Induction for New Staff Members!
We recently welcomed our new staff members with a dynamic two-day face-to-face induction program. This comprehensive session was designed to immerse them in the OneSchool Global way of life.
The induction covered key areas such as the OneSchool Global Learning to Learn Framework, providing insights into our innovative educational approach. Our 19 attendees also learned about the OneSchool Global Structure, gaining a clear understanding of our organizational operations. Our Values and Ethos were highlighted, emphasizing the principles that guide our community. Additionally, the program included an overview of our Digital Ecosystem, ensuring everyone is proficient with the tools and platforms that support our learning and administrative processes. A highlight of the induction was the collaborative effort to answer the big question: What does it take to deliver outstanding self-directed learning at OneSchool Global? Through engaging discussions and activities, our new team members shared ideas and strategies to foster an environment where students can excel as independent learners.
We would like to acknowledge the 2 CAs who supported our Scenario session and a big thank you to Olivia Brown and Erika Frank who unpacked the Personas, CPOMS and the behaviour policy. We are thrilled to see our new staff members bring their fresh perspectives and enthusiasm to OneSchool Global!

On 5th November, Maidstone staff and students celebrated the opening of their new secondary learning centre. Breakfast was provided thanks to the Y11 students, the ribbon was cut by the CP and CA Team, then students explored the new spaces, enabling them to understand the different zones and furniture.
"It was a very exciting experience for us Year 7’s in the brand-new learning centre. The open plan area is extremely good with high-quality furniture that means it is a comfortable working environment for students of all ages. There is a good amount of individual spaces for quiet study and concentration, the seats are well spaced this means you can work without any distractions." - Y7 student
A huge thank you and well done to all involved in this beautiful new fitout!
Families in School
This month, students have been delighted to welcome their families into school. Parents and friends enjoyed tours of the campuses, watching the students learn, and deepening their knowledge of aspects like the L2L Framework and MAP.
A huge thank you to families for taking the time to visit our campuses, and a thank you to many of the Student Leadership Teams who provided cake and a hot drink!
